Wishcasting Wednesday: What Do You Wish For The World?

In Progress, preped work on hardwood panel, ready for oil paint by Erin Richardson

This week, for Wishcasting Wednesday, Jamie Ridler asks:

What do you wish for the world?

Many noble answers sprang to mind when I first read Jamie’s question.

While some of these answers ‘sounded good’. none of them felt personal to me.

I continued to contemplate how I’d answer this question.

While working in my studio I realised the answer is staring at me in my current collection of in progress paintings.

The current theme in my work is togetherness.

I am depicting ‘togetherness’ in my work as symbolised by a man & woman.

As always there are multiple layers of interpretation to be found in each painting.

I wish for the world to find ‘togetherness’

There are multiple levels of togetherness we can all aim for.

Most obviously is accepting each other, and working in harmony.

Harmony with your partner, family, neighbour, or on a global scale across continents and nationalities.

For me, ‘togetherness’ within yourself is where this all begins.

Perhaps that’s a strange concept.

I view it as more important, as personal ‘togetherness’ will ripple out like a wave to create every other level of ‘togetherness’.

Personal togetherness means harmony within the self.

Self acceptance will be created when with self knowledge.

Blockages are understood, removed and dreams are achieved – creating.

Togetherness in the Self is a working together of the subconscious & higher consciousness, where dreams are achieved.

Each person that achieves this, through insight, self-discovery, whatever method, takes us one step closer to global togetherness.

Wishcasting Wednesday: What do you wish to Attract?

For this week’s question on  Wishcasting Wednesday, Jamie Ridler asks us:

What do you wish to attract?

The obvious answer (and I’m sure so many others wish for the same) seemed to be success.

Success is such a vague concept.

The more I thought about filling my post with the specific successes I’d like to attact, the more my energy went into a nose dive. I realised I don’t want to share the specifics of my dreams for success, yet.

Ok,  what do I want to attract and share here today?

I have so many projects and ideas I want to accomplish, yet I find myself caught up in, and distracted by a re-occurring drama, worries, art ideas, website ideas, etc.. HaHaHa.. everything distracts me at the moment.

So -

I would like to tune into and attract the energy of focus into my life right now.

I will use this focus to work my way through my list of goals and dreams, and bring them into life.

Artist’s Date: Dead Poets Society

For last week’s Artist’s Date, I fancied lighting a fire and spending the evening watching a film.

Maybe that doesn’t sound very interesting, personally I never watch TV or films, so it was something different.

I have no idea how I accumulated a collection of unopened DVDs, (possibly presents?) – I find myself with a large selection of films  I have never watched.

When I made the decision to watch a film, I thought it would be a fantasy like Alice in Wonderland or a comedy like Big Fish.

As I looked through the selection of DVD’s, I was drawn to Dead Poet’s Society.

As I looked at the box, my ego said ‘nah, maybe a more modern film hmmm’?

Petty ego resistance… I’ve learnt over the years, that’s often a sign that I need whatever I am resisting.

Regardless, it still took me a while to finally peel off the cellophane wrapper and start watching.

The film was perfect.  I ‘got’ the obvious ‘Seize the Day’ message. For me there was so much more in this film, following your dreams and true self, regardless of what society says – is a validation for all that walk their own path.

The passion the boys felt for the poetry they read was a real surprise for me.  I haven’t figured out why, yet.  I can ‘get’ their passion, respect it and desire it deeply.  Just at the moment, I can’t ‘touch’ it within me.  Does that make sense?

I’d like to watch this film again, I feel I have more to learn from it.

Wishcasting Wednesday: What do you wish people knew about you?

For this week’s Wishcasting Wednesday question Jamie Ridler asks us What do you wish people knew about you?

Wow once again, perfect timing from Jamie, this question is 100% in sync with me.

Yesterday afternoon I realised I don’t know of any other artists combing classic oil painting & collage, as I do.

Therefore I realised it might be a good idea to tell people about my art, how I make it, the materials I use.

The longer I thought about it, the more I realised I need to offer viewers insight to me through my artist’s statement, why I use the materials I use, where I get my ideas from, etc.

So my next project this week is to create a page on this website, with the purpose of letting people know about my work.
